Paid Internship in the UK

Take part in a UK paid internship to improve your English language skills

The paid hotel internships programme is open to students of all nationalities who have at least an intermediate level of spoken English and some work experience in the hotel, hospitality or customer service sector. Paid internships in the UK with Eurolingua are an ideal opportunity for both European (EU) and International Students (non-EU) to upgrade their English language skills not only in a classroom situation but also in an everyday working environment. Participants will earn at least the UK minimum wage, the same as other British workers doing the same job, in accordance with British law on National Minimum Wages in the United Kingdom.
How do European Union (EU) and Switzerland students join a paid internship in the UK?
Students from the EU Member States or Switzerland do not require a Visa or Work Permit to take up salaried employment in the United Kingdom.

Terms and Conditions for a UK paid internship:

  • Students must be 18 to 28 years old when they start the programme
  • Must speak English (Level 5 IELTS on speaking skills; Council of Europe Grade B2)
  • Must pass a telephone interview in English
  • Hotel, hospitality, customer service experience preferred
  • Total programme duration: 3 to 12 months
  • UK minimum salary £4.45/hour 18 - 21 year olds; £5.35/hour over 21 year olds
  • 30 to 40 work hours per week, paid overtime sometimes available
  • Typical weekly salary: £GB178.00 - £GB214.00 per week, plus tips
  • Staff accommodation and meals during hotel employment (cost £30-£60 per week)
  • Cambridge Work Experience Certificate examination preparation (optional extra)
  • Placement fee: £495 (non-refundable deposit £215 + balance £280)

How do international students (non-EU) join a hotel internship in the UK?
Non-EU students require a STUDENT VISA to enter and work legally in the United Kingdom, granted by the nearest British Embassy. Our paid hotel internships lead to the Cambridge Certificate in Work Experience or the Advanced Certificate in Work Experience. This ‘study and work’ format is known as a “sandwich course” and is recognised by the British Embassies for Visa purposes and is thus ideal for non-EU students. It is the best and quickest way to apply for and be granted a Student Visa for our UK paid internship programme.

Do you need a Visa?
Bulgarian and Romanian citizens
from January 2007 do NOT need a visa for the UK but must enrol on a study and work programme (“sandwich course”) and register with the British Home Office by sending, on arrival at our UK school, a BR1 Form with either their passport or ID card. After the mandatory 4-week course, Bulgarian and Romanian citizens can usually work full-time for up to a year on this basis and also receive a certificate by a nationally recognised examining body. The programme fee for a paid internship in the UK is £GB1270 (full programme).

Terms and Conditions to be granted a STUDENT VISA for the United Kingdom:
  • Students must be 18 to 28 years old when they start the programme
  • Must speak English (Level 5 IELTS on speaking skills; Council of Europe Grade B2)
  • Must pass a telephone interview in English with our UK School
  • Hotel, hospitality, customer service experience preferred
  • Must be enrolled on a 4 week English Course at our British Council School in Brighton/Hove
  • Homestay accommodation and meals are included during the 4-week study period
  • Total programme duration: 3 to 6 months (maximum duration granted for visa)
  • UK minimum salary £4.45/hour 18 - 21 year olds; £5.35/hour over 21 year olds
  • 30 to 40 work hours per week, plus paid overtime when available
  • Typical weekly salary: £GB178.00 - £GB214.00 per week, plus tips
  • Staff accommodation and meals during hotel employment (cost £30-£60 per week)
  • Cambridge Work Experience Certificate examination preparation (UCLES)
  • Monitoring and supervision during the programme by the Brighton School
  • Placement fee: £1570 (non-refundable deposit £370 + balance £1200)

self-publishing

Some posts ago I wrote that you could self-publish your own books in the website
www.lulu.com
which was created by a Canadian publisher.
Now something similar is possible also in the Italian site
www.ilmiolibro.it
Self-publishing is easy and cheap; you just need to send your copy to the website and buy at least one copy of your book at the price you establish; if people are interested in your books they can buy them online and you will earn money from the sale.
